The holiday movie season is in full swing, meaning two more Hindi films will open in Chicago area theaters this weekend.
Wake Up Sid! features Ranbir Kapoor as Sid, a directionless guy who meets an attractive, motivated writer played by Konkona Sen Sharma, forcing Sid to rethink his slacker lifestyle.
In Do Knot Disturb, Govinda plays a businessman trying to cover up his affair with a model (Lara Dutta). When he hires his friend (Ritesh Deshmukh) to pose as his girlfriend’s boyfriend, identities get mixed up and comic wackiness ensues.
Both movies will open on Friday, October 2 at Big Cinemas Golf Glen 5 in Niles, AMC South Barrington 30 in South Barrington and AMC Cantera 30 in Warrenville. Wake Up Sid! has a runtime of 2 hrs. 18 min., and Do Knot Disturb has a runtime of 2 hrs. 6 min.
But those aren’t the only Hindi films showing in the Chicago area this weekend. The Golf Glen 5, Cantera 30 and South Barrington 30 are all carrying over Dil Bole Hadippa! and What’s Your Raashee?, which opened last Friday to disappointing first week earnings of only $169,005 in the United States.
The South Barrington 30 is also carrying over Wanted for a third week. Salman Khan’s latest has earned $332,816 in U.S. theaters so far.
Other Indian movies playing around Chicago include the Telugu film Ganesh and the Malayalam film Loud Speaker, both at the Golf Glen 5.
Sherlyn Chopra is one of the bold and hot girl in Bollywood. She was a model before entering into movies. In 2002 at the age of 17 she has started her film career with an American movie Beeper.
After three years she entered into Bollywood with the movie Time Pass which was a flop. Then did a small role in multi starer Dosti: Friends Forever which was also failed to win Box Office.
She continued with small roles in the movies like Raqeeb and Game. In Red Swastik she has played length character as serial killer. In 2009 she paired opposite Shahid Kapoor in Yash Raj Films movie Dil Bole Hadippa.
Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan go out of their comfort zones when it comes to promoting their films. Now just recently, the third Khan of the famous Khan trio, Salman also emulated them and went on to promote his Wanted extensively. The result, a super hit. Interestingly, the latest we hear is that Sunny Deol who has always stayed away from lime light has realized the importance of promotions and has promised his producer Subhash Ghai that he will make time for the promotion of Mukta Arts Right Ya Wrong.
According to source, “Sunny Deol called up Subhash Ghai after watching the rushes of the film recently and promised full co-operation during the release of the film. Well it won’t be surprising if Sunny Deol will be seen bonding with Salman Khan on his reality show Dus Ka Dum, real soon. Salman and Sunny Deol have been friends for a long time. Not only that Salman has been a great fan of Sunny’s father Dharmendra, and respects him a lot too.”
Actors on film, and actors in real life are two separate things, at least – I hope they are. I think that I’m fairly good at thinking them as separate beings. I like to watch films based on the plot and the acting skills, not the off-screen personality of a star.
I think Tom Cruise is a complete loony, but I like him as an actor. He has made questionable films in which I didn’t care for him, or I just skipped the film completely.
Pretty much everyone knows of Mel Gibson’s drunken arrest full of racial slurs. Does that stop me from loving Braveheart, Conspiracy Theory, and the Lethal Weapon films? No. I think he’s gone a little wacky over the last few years, but that’s not stopping me from watching something he’s in.
I think Hema Malini sounds like a diva, especially with her ‘if you’re my fan you must vote for this guy, or else!’ kind of comment from during the elections in India (reportedly), but I don’t mind rewatching Sholay or seeing any film she’s been in.
Everyone knows of Christian Bale’s divaness on the set of Terminator: Salvation. It gets me to make a bunch of bad jokes, but it doesn’t stop me from watching something he stars in.
I enjoyed the Iranian film Kandahar and thought that Dawud Salahuddin was really quite good as the American medic, despite the fact that Dawud Salahuddin is on the FBI most wanted list for killing an Iranian dissident and critic of Ayatollah Khomeini in 1980 and fleeing to Iran. I know, right? I must be crazy or something.
However, there are times when no matter what I do I cannot watch a film without thinking of the actor’s off screen personality. They’ve ruined some films for me. I have three such incidents, all in Bollywood.
3. Anything with Shakti Kapoor
Doesn’t he just look like a sleaze-ball? He was the secondary bad guy in Hero (1983). He was the strange ‘Crime Master GoGo’ in Andaz Apna Apna (that whole film was a big WTF).
Michele and I made some bad jokes after seeing him in Hero because back then he looked crazily like John Lennon. Bad jokes being of how John Lennon didn’t die – he just went to Bollywood!
Since then I’ve read bits of how much of a douchebag he really is. The picture should tell you enough. If I can avoid him (ie: FAST-FORWARD BUTTON) – I will.
2. Anything starring Salman Khan
From his mumbling to his bad sense of comedic timing – I don’t like Salman Khan as an actor. That is enough to make me avoid pretty much everything he’s been in, but to put icing on the cake I’ve read about such incidents of poaching, and driving recklessly into a bakery which led to someone dying – no charges or anything pressed. There’s also the reports of terrible relationship which Aishwarya Rai which ended with Salman hanging around drunk on the sets of Devdas and Aishwarya in tears.
The films that I have seen Salman Khan in have been because of other people. Karan Arjun – Shahrukh Khan, Kajol; God Tussi Great Ho – Amitabh (AS GOD), Priyanka Chopra; Hum Aapke Hain Kaun – Madhuri Dixit, along with the film’s reported epicness; Andaz Apna Apna – Aamir Khan; Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam – Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit; Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega – Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji; Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love – everyone but him; Marigold – Ali Larter, Bollywood/Hollywood crossover.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was the first film I actually saw him in. It was back when I was new to Bollywood, and I kind of liked him. But, after reading about him? I was severely put off. I saw some other films which happened to star him, and I really don’t see what’s so great about him. The only time I’ve ever actually kind of liked him was Karan Arjun.
I am willing to watch Wanted and Veer simply because they sound terrible and it’s a perfect chance for me to make fun of him.
1a. Khoya Khoya Chand
This one hurts me the most. I really, really liked this film. Soha Ali Khan played an aspiring actress during the 50s, and Shiney Ahuja as an aspiring writer turned struggling director. It had interesting music, solid plot, and solid acting from both stars. I thought Shiney Ahuja was quite excellent in his role, and actually quite handsome (despite the not-so-50s hairstyle!).
Not long after I heard bits of how Shiney Ahuja was a bit of a diva, and seemed to have a false sense of entitlement. I shrugged it off.
However, in June of this year Shiney Ahuja confessed to raping his 19 year old maid, and he’s been rotting in jail waiting for a hearing ever since. Serves you right, asshole! I hope you rot in jail forever!
While I love the film, I just can’t rewatch it knowing what he’s done. No one will stop me from loving this song though.
If you can get past the fact that the lead actor raped his 19 year old maid? I’d rec this film.
1b. Hijack
It sounds like one of those bad cheesy hijacking films where the lowly air traffic controller gets on board and KICKS TERRORIST ASS. They don’t know who they’re messing with! Those terrorists will regret ever stepping on board this plane!
DUM DUM DUM!
I wanted to see it but…
It stars Shiney Ahuja!
Grr. RAGE.
Hopefully one day I’ll be able to disconnect actor-Shiney Ahuja from real-life-douchebag-Shiney Ahuja.
Brothers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant are award-winning composers of songs and background music for high-profile Bollywood films. Photo: Courtesy of Salim and Sulaiman Merchant
As young boys, Salim and Sulaiman Merchant enjoyed watching their father, Sadruddin, sing and perform in public.
A composer and 14-year veteran of the Telugu-language film industry in South India, Sadruddin Merchant moved to Mumbai in 1969 where he manufactured musical instruments. He also played the piano, saxophone, guitar and drums, recorded devotional albums, led the Darkhana Scouts orchestra and often performed during Jamati celebrations.
“He was fondly known as the Mohammed Rafi of the Ismaili community,” noted the brothers, referring to the famous Bollywood singer who recorded more than 4 500 Hindi film songs during his career. “People still remember him singing his heart out during the Khushiali dandia raas.”
Salim, now 35, and Sulaiman, 38, later decided to follow their father’s example and pursue a career in music. Their dad, who is no longer alive, encouraged them from the very beginning. “Seeing our interest in music, he helped us develop it into a career, giving us the choice to pursue what he had always dreamed for us.”
Both brothers were students at St Peter’s High School and KC College in Mumbai. But outside the classroom, Salim learnt piano through a correspondence course, while Sulaiman studied tabla with various mentors including Taufiq Qureshi, son of Ustad Allarakha and brother to tabla prodigy Ustad Zakir Hussain.
The pair started their career composing “jingles” — short pieces for television advertisements: “Selling a product in 30 seconds is an art in itself, and we probably did a few hundred of these commercials.” In the mid-1990s, they moved into pop music, producing albums for Voodoo Rapper, Style Bhai, Shweta Shetty, Jasmine Bharucha and other musicians.
Their big break came one day when they were working in the same studio building as Bollywood director Sanjay Gupta, who was editing his 1997 film Hameshaa next door. Gupta overheard their work and approached them. “He came up to us and said he wanted us to do a piece for his film…within the next few days we recorded the theme of Hameshaa,” the brothers recall.
Since then, Salim and Sulaiman have built a solid career in Bollywood, where they regularly compose songs and background music for high-profile films.
Together, the brothers say they have worked on approximately 65 movies, including Bhoot (2003), Ab Tak Chhappan (2004), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Dhoom (2004), Neal ‘N’ Nikki (2005), Kaal (2005), Krrish (2006), Aaja Nachle (2007), Fashion (2008) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008). Their work has earned them industry recognition and garnered numerous accolades including Filmfare, Zee Cine, Screen and IIFA awards.
Dil Bole Hadippa, starring Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor, is being released today, 18 September 2009. We were fortunate enough to have the privilege to attend a press release of this film last night, so here is a review of the film!
Many criticise that this film is simply a “Bollywood copy” of the Hollywood film She’s The Man, but the story of a woman disguising herself as a man is a timeless story pass through the ages. The Disney movie Mulan, and their recently released film She’s The Man are, like Dil Bole Hadippa, off-shoots of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
Dil Bole Hadippa tells the story of a girl from a Punjabi village who dreams to play cricket with the boys. Forced to disguise herself as a man to play, many troubles ensue, much to the amusement of the audience.
More than just a comedy, Dil Bole Hadippa brings to light the contrast of modern and traditional Punjabi values, divorce, how it feels to be Indian-born yet living abroad (and inherently how western values clash with those of the east), and the need for diplomatic unity and peace between Pakistan and India.
Although this was the first time Kapoor and Mukherjee performed on screen together, they presented beautiful chemistry. Their acting brought the audience to laughter and tears, and then to laughter again. The film was quite top-notch despite a few scenes made unnecessarily long and overly dramatic, and the unlikely camaraderie between two entire villages from Pakistan and India. Interestingly enough, the songs were woven more seamlessly than the usual Bollywood technique of soundtrack integration. Rather than have the main actors suddenly appear in the mountains busting out high range vocals, all but one of the songs either served as background music, or as the lyrics of the local theatre production. This was an interesting technique which made the film a more realistic depiction.
Serving as a lesson for the audience to change its prejudices, Dil Bole Hadippa is a must-see for the Bollywood-lover.
Born in Hong Kong on July 16, 1984 Katrina Kaif is one of eight siblings, all girls, from a mother who is a Caucasian of British Nationality, and a father who was formerly from Kashmir, India, but who has since acquired British citizenship.
She spent subsequent years in Hawaii, and then in London, Britain, She started modeling accidentally when she was in Hawaii at the tender age of 14, when she was approached for a jewelry campaign. Thereafter she continued modeling in London.
Continuing to model was the reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie ‘Boom’ offered by none other than film-maker Kaizad Gustad.
She was flooded with modeling assignments the minute she set her foot on Indian soil, especially with her innocent expressive face, hour-glass figure, and drop-dead gorgeous looks.
Professionally she started off as a model with photographer Atul Kasbekar, and upon being accepted, she received offers from LG, Cola, Fevicol, Lakme, & Veet. It was the Lakme commercial that got her noticed. She retained Matrix as her Manager to accept work on her behalf and at the price she deserved.
Moving to different culture and country was not much of a culture shock for her, as she states that no matter where you come from, the bottom line is that everyone wants to be loved, respected, and cared for.
Unlike other artistes from foreign lands, Katrina did not experience any difficulties in getting a visa nor of getting it extended in India.
Although linguistically challenged, Katrina puts on a bold face and states that other Bollywood artistes like Sridevi, who did not know Hindi, did get offers from Bollywood film-makers, and she is no different. She has taken Hindi and dancing lessons to fit in with the Bollywood culture. She likes to display a picture of her learning Kathak dancing where she used to dance 7 hours a day non-stop.
Despite of her soft gorgeous looks, she is not easily intimidated, but admits that she is very emotional, almost an incurable romantic, wears comfortable non-revealing clothes when at home, hates to do her hair, and above all dislikes make-up. Admitting to being lonely in the beginning, but now has several friends who she can hang out with.
Although her first movie ‘Boom’ was panned by the critics and shunned by the audiences, two other Telugu movies ‘Malliswari’ and ‘Pidugu’ did get her noticed. She grossed 70 Lakh Rupees for ‘Malliswari’ – making her top the list of the highest paid actresses during a South Indian movie debut.
Not done with South Indian movies, she has been signed in a Tamil movie ‘Bheema’ opposite National Award Winner Vikram.
She has received decent reviews for her part in “Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya”, as well as a brief appearance in ‘Sarkar’.
Katrina had made Mumbai her base, didn’t mind singing and dancing around trees and as a result is now one of the biggest mega-stars, perhaps one of the highest paid female-lead actresses in Bollywood, and a crowd-puller whenever she makes an appearance for a live song and dance number.
Fashion was movie from Madhur Bhandarkar in 2008. It was also a sensation like Madhur Bhandarkar’s previous movies like Corporate and Chandini Bar. Model Mugdha Godse entered into Bollywood with this movie only.
She has shared screen with Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut. This movie completely revolves around the lifes of Models. Mugdha’s character length is a bit less compared with Priyanka and Kangana.
Madhur Bhandarkar impressed with her performance in this movie and gave offer in his next movie Jail opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh.
With Dil Bole Hadippa, Rani Mukerji is going to appear on silver screen after nearly one and half year gap. She is attracting audience than, Shahid Kapoor. Dil Bole Hadipa movie success is very crucial to her career. This is romantic comedy with cricket back drop.
On the other hand Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia’s Wanted Dead And Alive is also going to release on the same day. Audience are very curious to see which will win the Box Office. National award winner Prakash Raj has played the negative role in Wanted.
Sayaji Shinde and Mahesh Manjrekar are the other crew. Prabhu Deva is going to made his debut in Bollywood as director.
Audios of Dil Bole Haddipa and Salman’s Wanted both attracted audience attention.
You will be surprise to read this- Ajay Devgan plays a Rockstar in ‘London Dreams’ and it is true, the so serious actor with a tinge in eyes, once action star will be strumming the string of guitar in Vipul Shah’s forthcoming. It isn’t so surprising for Shah to turn the essencefull bollywood actor into the character of Irish singer Bono for the film.
Ajay is Ready to Rock On!
“So far, we’ve only seen him in a sedate or comic image, never as someone who can cross the frontiers and do something outrageous,” Shah, who hasn’t quite converted the actor in an outrageously punky rock star, said.
Ajay makes the Move!
“No, not quite the reckless renegade. I’ve modeled Ajay’s rock act on Bono, the Irish lead singer from U2. Bono was never your quintessential rock star. He had a more sober and a less wild image. When Ajay gets on stage in London Dreams, he replicates the curbed tempered-down rock-star’s image of U2. Yes, I have modeled him on Bono.”
Ajay who has always been poor in his dancing sequences must have gone through a hard labour. Let’s wait for the worthy outcome!!
Wanted.. Dead Or Alive is the Salman Khan’s upcoming movie. Its a remake for Telugu block buster hit Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri. Pokiri has broken all the records in Tollywood. It has very good story and fast screenplay.Climax twist is the major highlight.
Choreographer Prabhu Deva has directed Hindi version. Ayesha Takia is paired opposite Salman Khan. In the recent past Salman Khan has acted mostly in comedy movies and dramas. This time he is going to appear in out and out action role.
Trailers are revealing that, director not tried to change any scene. Yash Raj Films movie Dil Bole Hadippa is the tough competitor to this movie.

Rishi Kapoor in Chintu Ji Vs Dita Von Teese’s Trademark act. Well Tried!
Claim to Fame of Dita Von Teese : Marilyn Manson’s ex-girlfriend; She has contributed a lot to “revive the dying art form of burlesque”
From the Wikipedia Article on Dita Von Teese :
” Cameron Diaz performed a tribute to Von Teese’s martini glass routine in the film Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Von Teese’s name appears in the credits, listed under “Special Thanks.” It is rumored that this was only added after Dita threatened to sue the film makers for stealing her idea.”
IMDB confirms the Thanks bit
Dita’s Official Website says: (WARNING: LINKS ARE VERY NSFW)
” Dita’s signature martini glass act is vintage pinup art come to life! After an utterly dreamy striptease, Dita bathes in the giant glass with an olive sponge! You may have seen Cameron Diaz’s tribute to Dita’s act in the film Charlie’s Angels 2 “

Bollywood’s two most hot actresses, Shilpa Shetty and Bipasha Basu will soon appear the screens with an action film. Shilpa is all set to produce the film also. Thus, the two actresses will be sharing screen space. The two actresses will undergo special training for the film. The project was put on hold because of ongoing recession but now the project has been revived.
shilpa and bipasha
The film is been written and directed by Manish Jha who made movie like ‘Matrubhoomi’ starring Tulip Joshi, which was also female oriented.
Actress Bipasha Basu claimed that she is looking forward for the project and she would love to work with Shilpa Shetty. Following the suit, Katrina Kaif is also making a female-oriented flick which is inspired by a French film. The actress has asked Dibakar Banerjee to direct it.

Fight for the National Awards for Best Actor have finally came to zero with a twist that was never expected. Earlier sources from media strongly projected that it would be either Shah Rukh Khan for Chak De India or Aamir Khan for Taare Zameen Par winning the prestigious title.
Due to the recent tragic death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Rajashekar Reddy the actual annoucements were postponed. But the new news is that both the Khans have lost to South Indian actor Prakash Raj.
Prakash Raj has been in the spotlight with his outstanding piece of work in Priyadarshan’s film Kanchivaram projecting him as a silk weaver. The South Indian actor had earlier made his presence in Hindi cinema with Amitabh Bacchan starrer Khakee featuring him in a negative role. Now, the actor has been roped in for the similar role in Salman Khan starrer Wanted.
Earlier also the actor had received the National award of Best Supporting Actor for his amazing performance in Manirathnam’s Iruvar where the actor portrayed the role of present chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi.
Charging 12 crore Per Endorsement for one year and after endorsing Samsung mobile phones, Aamir Khan will now be the Brand Ambassador for Tourism Ministry’s Atithi Devo Bhava campaign. At the same time SRK is the brand ambassador for Nokia and the new Nokia mobile phones that are going to come in India shortly are Noika N900 and Nokia 5230.

Director Shashanka Ghosh’s Quick Gun Murugun takes every convention, cliche and character from popular cinema (and importantly, Tamil cinema) and turns them into delightful caricatures. And because our cinema has been inspired by so many different voices, QGM gets a rich palette to play with – Spaghetti Westerns, Martial arts revenge flicks, Tarantino, Matrix, Terminator, Clint Eastwood [ Images ], Helen, Rajnikanth [ Images ], the moist-eyed ‘Ma’, the chilling bald-headed villain, talking portraits and college lovebirds played by uncles and aunties and more.
In its outrageous, comic-book treatment, QGM comes rather close to the comedy-action-crime film Kung Fu Hustle directed by Stephen Chow. In its flavour, it is as potent as desi chilli powder and chutney.
QGM is surprisingly violent. There is enough blood and gore with whizzing bullets and cracking whips to keep you at the edge of your seat. The action sequences (Sham Kaushal) are superbly executed, with the faceoff at the Coconut Tree Climbing Institute and the duel in a traffic jam being our favourite. The tender coconut bombs were a killer idea. Pun intended.
Murugun, the vegetarian Tamil cowboy, is Ghosh’s tribute to the archetypal hero, who dominated popular imagination for decades. He was this larger-than-life, over-the-top, generous to a fault, protector of the poor, saviour of the ladies, faster the bullet, sucker for mother’s cooking who cries at the drop of a hat (literally) with a bad dressing sense man, we canonised in our cinema.
But lest you go in expecting some bawdy humour and slapstick comedy, be warned. QMG is not your typical slide-splitting, laugh-a-minute fare. And it definitely does not expect you to ‘leave your brains behind’. The laughs do happen but more often you are left smiling at the intelligent dialogues and their allusions to cultural idiosyncrasies, the parodies and the sarcasm.
“This is a private road”, says QGM, when Mango Dolly tries to seduce him. “He has become thin as a chewed out drumstick,” says Murugun’s sister-in-law, who makes the ‘best dosa-sambhar‘ in town. Hoping to convince Murugun to take up a decent job, his Locket Lover urges him to “Get a kerosene dealership.” And after having taught a handicapped robber a suitable lesson, Murugun tells him, to “apply for a phone booth instead.” And even Big B [ Images ] is not spared when Reddy suggests his team rope in Bachchan to endorse the terrible Mc Dosas, and mimics his somber style to the ‘t’. Ouch!
The art direction, styling, the construction of each frame has been handled deftly. Mango Dolly, the don’s moll, wears a blonde wig and furry nighties around the villain and brown hair, pink satin petticoats with backless cholis around Murugun.
The villain, Rice Plate Reddy’s weapon of mass destruction is Mc Dosa which boasts of a Ronald Mc Donald parody with decidedly Dravidian features. QGM actually cries into a glass of whisky while the villain wears gold underpants and red ‘dollar’ briefs with a secret ‘money’ pocket. QMG is lured into a “honeymoon soot” at a rundown hotel calling itself, Well-Known Lodge, which has pink heart shaped cushions and a creaking bed. And heaven’s messenger drives a cart attached to a bike which ‘moos’ like a cow. Well, by the time the film gets over, you will have your own list of favourites.
Some of the goriest scenes in QGM are tempered with dark humour. When Rice Plate Reddy sounds the death knell for his aide Gun Powder, a near-blind octogenarian is summoned with a prehistoric typewriter to drum out his “resignation”. Tension mounts, Gun Powder is inching towards his death, Rice Plate dictates the lines, relishing every innocuous word, giving it a sinister twist, to the unmistakable tune of Happy Birthday in the background. How this sequence ends is for you to find out.
Casting is near-perfect, with Dr Rajendra Prasad going about his business with all seriousness. His rosy cheeks, penciled moustaches and scarlet lips are as effective as his green, yellow and orange costume. But not for a moment do you doubt his sincerity as he delivers the funniest and corniest lines with the straightest face.
Nasser as Rice Plate Reddy is a treat to watch with his flashy rings, white and gold outfits and his favorite expression, “Tension, tension, tension da!” Watch out for his ear fuzz set against a shiny bald pate. Here’s a potential comic book villain.
Mango Dolly, played by Rambha, is a buxom beauty (a la the Southern sirens) in a blond wig and blue eye-shadow (a la Helen). Her outfits we thought, went out with the Gemini Circus. But we were obviously wrong, we say!
What stands out in the film is the sound design and the music (Sagar Desai), which combine to make this spoof a full-blooded comic-action-crime thriller. The Carnatic flute version of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly signature tune was a treat.
From his two-minute life span on a music channel, Quick Gun Murugun has come a long way indeed and deserves this full length feature dedicated to our very own Indian Cowboy with a buckle to die for (Stylists, may I please have a replica of the same?!)
On the whole, QMG is as delicious as Mrs Murugun’s dosas. As Rice Plate would have said, “A1, Tip Top!”
Yash Raj Films founder and most senior director in Bollywood Mr Yash Chopra got invitation from Pusan International Film Festival ( South Korea). He is going to receive Asian Film Maker Of The Year award in that film festival.

Hace unos años, Vivek había organizado una Conferencia de prensa en la que Salman había acusado de hostigar a él y lo amenazaron de muerte porque él estaba saliendo con ex de Sallú osea Aishwarya Rai. this hopefully will be the last post on Siddharth for a while (at least ’til the release of Oye! or my vector which is slightly at idle mode).
I have watch pretty much all of Siddharth’s movies that have been released on DvD except for Aata.
All together, I can say his acting is pretty awesome mainly due to the way he portrays his character’s personality. Despite of the crappiness of the movie’s storyboard or the crappiness of the his co-actors’ acting, Siddharth has his way of making those movies watchable.
My favorite of them all would have to be Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and Rang de Basanti.
Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana is directed by the “Michael Jackson of India”, Prabhu Deva. The story itself is Cliche. It tells a tale of an NRI, who’s the son of a millionaire, that attends a wedding in India. Basically everyone in this wedding is a millionaire except for this one girl, who happens to be the bride’s closest friend, that lives the life of a farmer. As the movie progresses, the NRI and the farmer girl fall in love however their love is rejected by both of their families due to background differences (money difference).
Siddharth plays as the NRI and he pretty much is portrays the characters as a bubbly, energetic, happy-go-lucky kind. I guess that’s probably the main aspect of why I love this much so much. The movie is watchable for the most part due to its endless humorous moments hidden all over. Aside from its comedy aspect, it’s also pretty cute (: .Even my dad thought it was a good movie. However, he fails to accept this as one of his favorites, or at least as an “awesome” movie.
Funny thing is that even he enjoyed Siddharth’s acting in this one. His first movie of Siddharth was Rang de Basanti but he never heard of him at that time. Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana was his second and I remember my dad asking me what was the actor’s (siddharth’s) name twice during the movie. I didn’t think watching this movie with him would mean recruiting a fan =D. xD. I’m not sure if I can call him a fan of Siddarth, especially since he’s extremely picky about what to consider as his favorites. However, I remember the following morning I saw my computer on with the internet browser open with history. On of the recent pages visited were youtube searches of “Siddharth Telugu Movies”. It was no other than my dad searching them since he was the last to use the computer. I mean I guess that moment was kinda epic since my dad is a huge critic and virtually nothing seems to suit his taste xD.
Rang de basanti was probably my most favorite Indian movie of all times now that I think about it. It had every aspect a good movie should have (which I’m to lazy to list) and at the same time wasn’t a cliche romance Indian movie. Since I’m pretty pretty lazy at the moment, I’m going cut and paste the part of the summary from Wikipedia(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rang_De_Basanti). (the rest of the summary basically spoils the film)
Struggling British filmmaker Sue McKinley (Alice Patten) comes across the diary of her grandfather, Mr. McKinley (Steven Mackintosh), who served as a jailer in the British Army during the Indian independence movement. Through the diary, she learns about the story of five freedom fighters who were active in the movement: Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Ram Prasad Bismil. Having decided to make a film about them, Sue travels to India. With the help of her friend, Sonia (Soha Ali Khan), Sue initially casts four young men, Daljit “DJ” (Aamir Khan), Karan Singhania (Siddharth Narayan), Aslam (Kunal Kapoor) and Sukhi (Sharman Joshi), to portray as the revolutionaries.
Though they are not enthusiastic at the idea of acting in a film about the independence movement, Sue eventually manages to convince them. Laxman Pandey (Atul Kulkarni), a political party activist, joins the cast later, despite initially being unpopular due to his anti – Muslim beliefs and contempt for Aslam, a Muslim. In the process of filming, the idealism of India’s revolutionary heroes seeps into the protagonists. They gradually begin to realize that their own lives are quite similar to the characters they portray in Sue’s film and that the state of affairs that once plagued the revolutionaries continues to torment their generation.
Everyone in the film acting amazingly well. My favorite characters would have to be Karan, due to his somewhat reserved and confused attitude, and Sukhi due to his “bubblyness”. (:. Honestly if you haven’t watched the film, it’s definitely worth a watch, even if you aren’t Indian xD. The music, the direction, the storyboard are all awesome.
Honestly, all of Siddharth’s films that I’ve watched are wonderful. As biased as this may sound, some of them are awesome only because of Siddharth himself. His acting is watchable. Even Chukkallo Chandrudu which had “meh” storyboard was watchable and satisfied my likings. Of course it wasn’t my favorite but I definately wouldn’t mind watching it again (: .
The last movie I watch from him was his second movie, Aayutha Ezhuthu. It was pretty good, especially since it had my favorite actors (which I don’t have a lot of), Surya, Madhavan, Meera Jasmine and of course Siddharth. Plus it was a Mani Ratnam film; his direction is always excellent. However this wasn’t the most epic film. I’m not sure if it’s due to my lack of understanding of Indian Politics (since that’s what this movie revolved around) but I felt something was either missing or overdone.
His first movie, Boys, is another one that reaches my standards. I don’t highly recommend it but it’s worth watching. Story wise, it isn’t cliched (:. Basically it’s about 5 typical teenage boys who become a successful band after getting kick out from their homes. It’s a pretty cute movie and its fun to watch (:.
Then we have super cute Bommarillu. I don’t feel like elaborating on this one since I have already posted a huge entry on this one.
Lastly there is Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam. Siddharth, compared to his appearance in his earlier films, looks extremely different with his lengthy straightened hair. This also is another well made film. I think this would land in the category of a “family film”. Once again, Siddharth plays as the bubbly, happy-go-lucky kid. In this movie however his parents are divorced and he and his girlfriend tries to get them back together.
In my opion, one of the exciting parts of watching his films was his change of looks xD. I think Imma post a series of photos below in chronological order. xD
Katrina Kaif and Ranibir Kapoor are acting together in Rajkumar Santhoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani. Recently movie makers were released the stills of this movie. All the stills attracting audience in the first look only.
Stills are looking very funny and colorful. Upen Patel, Darshan Jariwala and Asrani are the other key cast for this movie. Salman Khan is going to appear in guest role.
Bollywood’s own bad boy may well have reputation and a tendency to stir up controversies, but when it comes to pay packets, he certainly rakes in the big money. He is known to charge about 8-10 crores per movie, and even though his acting skills (and his accent) have always been debatable, he does deliver hits and has a huge fan following.
4. Hrithik Roshan:
Hrithik Roshan
After the huge success of Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish, this green eyed boy has fast risen among the Bollywood ranks. Jodhaa Akbar was critically appreciated (though it was very long). Hrithik takes in approximately 10 crores and his three film deal with Adlabs, rumoured to be worth 30 crores, once made him the highest paid star in tinsel town.
3. Shahrukh Khan:
shahrukh khan
The baadshah of Bollywood is known to deliver certain hits and hence gets paid royally for that. With umpteen ads and television shows, times are good for him. He charges a cool 12 crores for a movie.
2. Aamir Khan:
Aamir Khan
The perfectionist of Bollywood has the highest delivery rate. Usually doing a movie a year, all his movies turn out to be blockbusters. With Ghajini breaking all records, Aamir has once again proven his might. And for that, he charges about 13-14 crores a movie.
1. Akshay Kumar:
Akshay Kumar
Tadaa! His rise to the top has certainly been one to chart. Silently but slowly overtaking the Khan brigade, Akki has consistently delivered hits. He has proven to be the king of mindless comedies and producers rush to him for any comic role. He takes home a whopping 15 crores per movie, the highest ever paid to a Bollywood actor

Bollywood’s sizzling beauty Katrina Kaif has been in the limelight for quite sometime now even though when she wasn’t active at the workplace since three weeks. A source close to her informed that Katrina Kaif is undergoing a skin treatment under Dr. Neena, a cosmetologist from Mumbai and has been taking a very strong medicine called Roaccutane for the last six months and will be under medication for another six months.
The medication is so strong that it gives rise to swollen, dry and chapped lips. But the actress faltterly refused to the statement saying that she’s not undergoing any kind of skin treatment.
Despite the controversies and the fact that Katrina Kaif doesn’t have a command on Hindi language and that her first Bollywood flick, ‘Boom’ made a dull start at the box-office, Katrina continues to be the most sought out actress in the Bollywood industry.
Katrina has also been honoured with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi National Award under the Best Actress category in the Hindi cinema recently. Next she will be seen in a cameo but a stunning 8 minutes performance in her upcoming and much hyped flick ‘Blue’ that also stars Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta. Kat’s other upcoming ventures are Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dhan, Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti and Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
